Design & Technology
The rationale at Shadsworth Infant School is to ensure children succeed in all areas of personal development as well as academically. From Nursery through EYFS and into Key Stage One and beyond children will enjoy and achieve in Design and Technology. They will learn and develop knowledge of using simple design tools, mark making media and different techniques with adhesives. They will progress in Key Stage One by designing, making and evaluating more sophisticated models. Our vision is that all children will grow in confidence and develop their characteristics of effective learning by testing their ideas, reviewing techniques and evaluating and appraising their own words.

Impact
Design and Technology at Shadsworth Infant School is assessed using the following;
- Informal judgements by staff during lessons
- Immediate next steps provided via verbal feedback
- Pupil and peer assessments
- Formal skills and assessment checklists
At the end of each DT unit/ topic, teachers make a summary judgement about the work each pupil has completed in relation to the success criteria. The DT subject leader monitors class assessment and analyses data on a termly basis.
