Spring 1
Welcome to Nursery! On this page you can find some useful information about our learning each half-term. In Nursery, we cover the Prime areas of EYFS: Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. We also support and teach children the Specific areas of Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
We may also share pictures and news from other areas of learning and development across our EYFS curriculum.
Our Current Topic for Spring 1 is 'Animal Magic'–Which animals have patterns?
This half-term, in Literacy we will be focusing on the books, 'Dear Zoo' and 'The Three Billy Goat's Gruff'. Whilst sharing books, we will be looking at the parts of a book, understanding that print has meaning, is read from right to left and how the pages are sequenced.

In Maths, the children will be focusing on Number again and building on their learning from Autumn 2. They will be focusing on the numbers 3, 4 and 5 and learning to how to recognise groups of objects with these amounts and counting objects using 1:1 correspondence.
As part of their Topic learning, children will be looking at a variety of animals from different habitats and naming them. They will also be talking about the patterns and colours of different animals and exploring a range of materials using their senses. As part of their personal, social and emotional development, children will be developing their independence, for example putting on their own coat and shoes and fastening up zips and buttons.
We are excited to show you our learning and what we have created.
Thank you, Mrs Aspden
