Art

At Shadsworth Infant School we are concerned with the education of the whole child. The development of art and design skills enables the achievement of personal fulfilment and satisfaction of the child. Art can give pleasure and increase self-esteem. It develops and aids fine motor skills, cognitive development and language skills.

Impact

Art at Shadsworth Infant School is assessed using the following;

•  informal judgements by staff during lessons
• immediate next steps provided via verbal feedback
• pupil and peer assessments
• formal skills and assessment checklists

Come the end of each Art topic, teachers make a summary judgement about the work each pupil has completed in relation to the success criteria. The Art subject leader monitors class assessment and analyses data on a termly basis.
