Nursery Key Information

Our Curriculum:

In Nursery, we follow the the Statutory Framework (EYFS),

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

This sets out all of the standards an Early Years Provider must follow.

The Early Years Curriculum is split into three Prime areas -

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

In Autumn Term, we focus heavily on the Prime areas of learning. These are the fundamentals of a child’s early education and they are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving.

We also support and teach children the specific areas of the EYFS, these are –

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding The World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Starting School is a very important time in a young child's life and in order to make sure that children are able enjoy school and get off to a good start they need to:

  • Have well developed personal skills -things like being able to put their coat on or feed themselves.
  • Have a level of emotional and social maturity - are happy to leave you and are used to playing with groups of other children.
  • Have the ability to communicate, pay attention and learn - being able to talk to their teachers and sit for a story.
  • Be healthy and well - so they have had all their injections and any health problems are being manage

Please find below some information booklets with some ideas, hints and tips provided by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Pacey.
