On this page you can find some useful information about our class work in Maths, English and our Topics which include our Geography, History, Art and DT work. From time to time we may also share pictures and news from other subjects including Computing, RE, PSHE and PE. 

In English, Year 1 will be focussing on the story of 'Toys in Space' a story about lost toys who go on an out of this world adventure.  The children will be improving sequencing sentences to form stories and writing descriptive pieces of writing.  They will be discussing the book, using comprehension, inference and prediction to answer questions about the story. They will be encouraged to read their work to small groups or the class. 

In Maths, the children will be starting to learn about multiplication, division and how fractions relates to sharing.  They will be introduced to time and look at o'clock, half past on an analogue clock as well as solve problems involving hours earlier and later.  They will continue to look at place value to 100 and measure mass and volume. 

Topic work will have a history focus and children will be learning about the history of space travel.  In science, children will be consolidating their knowledge on plants and set up an experiment about growing in different conditions.  Our art work will be 3D artwork looking at sculpture.

This half term 1W  will be working with Coach Ellie on a Friday so please can all PE kits be in as soon as possible.  1J will have forest school on Friday with Badger so please can children bring wellies to school if they have them.
