Last week was a fantastic and busy week! Year 2 made us proud with their fantastic dancing at King Georges Hall on Wednesday. Well done to everyone and thank you to all the parents that came to watch.
Thursday was World Book Day. All of the children and staff made a wonderful effort with their costumes. Families joined us for story time at the end of the day.
We rounded off the week with a visit from the theatre group and a production of ‘A Twist in Time’. Everyone enjoyed the show and year 2 had a fantastic opportunity to try the costumes on and see how the set worked! Phew!

It snowed and snowed last week! So there was only one thing for it...!
Do you wanna build a snowman?
A Steel Band workshop visited school and showed us how to make fantastic music with the Steelpans! We all got a turn and then they played some brilliant music for us to dance to.
We even started a Conga line in the hall!
What is a Steelpan Band?
Steelpans (also known as steel drums or pans, and sometimes, collectively with other musicians, as a steel band or orchestra) is a musical instrument originating from Trinidad and Tobago. Steel pan musicians are called pannists.
The steelpan or drum is struck using a pair of straight sticks tipped with rubber; Some musicians use four pansticks, holding two in each hand.
The pan is the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago
We can't believe it! Another year has flown by and it is now 2015.
We had a very busy Christmas at Shadsworth Infant School. We hope you and your families had a lovely two week break and that your children are well and ready to start the new year.
Happy New Year from all the staff at Shadsworth Infant School
We are pleased to say that the Shadsworth Infant School Christmas Markets were a huge success! We have raised enough money to take years 1 and 2 to see Snow White and the 7 Dwarves at King Georges Hall Blackburn.
Thank you to everyone who contributed and came on the night.
The Papergirl Project was completed last Saturday, when the pictures were handed out in Blackburn town centre. We are very excited to tell you that we have already had 3 replies about our children's work!
We had an email from Carina about Demi McPhearson's cat picture:
Hello Demi
Thank you for your art work, It's very good. I have a granddaughter who is also six and it's quite funny she has a cat that looks just like the one you did, Daisy is a cute cat but only has three legs.
Are you getting excited about Christmas? I bet you are also getting ready for a school concert. Be good Be happy and thank you again for the art work I have put it on my fridge with Olivia's work.
Best wishes Carina x
We also had an email from a group of Manchester Students that received Ebony's picture, who also sent us a wonderful photograph!
Hello,
We are students from the University of Manchester. Today, I was fund raising in Blackburn for Make a Wish UK when I was handed this amazing piece of art!
It's by Ebony (age 6). It's the first piece of art that we have in our student home and we love it!
Thank you for making our living room a bit brighter and making us all smile!
Frankie, Amy, Jess, Zoe, Flo, Kristian, Harvey, Ellis and Charlie
We also had a phone call from a Mrs Jean McGuiness who received Simon's dinosaur picture and Edward was very excited to hear that his fantastic picture of a pirate had gone to Miss Hargreaves' big brother! What are the chances of that?!
The children loved producing the pictures and it has been so lovely to hear from the people who received them. Thank you so much for taking the time out to send us a message.
*If you received one of our pictures we would love to hear from you! Use the contact us page on the website to send a message!*
Today we had a Dodgeball match with the children from St. Mary and St. Joseph's Primary School. We won 10 points to 9!
We are very proud of our Dodgeball team and would like to say a big well done to all the children involved. It was lovely to meet the children from St. Mary and St. Joseph's and we wish them luck in future games.

The Papergirl Project is a community art project. The Blackburn Is Open initiative have asked people from all over the county and even the world to submit a piece of art that will be rolled up and handed to people in the town centre by a ‘papergirl’. Our year 2 children have produced some amazing drawings in the Creative Zone. There were tigers and houses, castles and rainbows!
Have a look at their fantastic drawings below!
The artwork will be on display at St Johns Centre in Blackburn from the 6th to 16th November before being handed out in the town centre on the 22nd November.
